Starting to Play

OK, so you’ve  got yourself a blues harp and can’t wait to get going! Well don’t be shy, start blowing on that thing and see what kind of sounds you can make. You should be able to get some nice sounding chords straight away, play up and down and get used to how it feels, experiment with the different sounds you can make with your tongue and mouth – try speaking (without voice) while blowing and notice the differences in tone.

The next stage is to try to pick out simple melodies using single notes – see the next sections for details.
